St. Joseph School of Nursing
Graduates 108th Class
(North Providence, RI) The St. Joseph School of
Nursing, located on the campus of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital
in North Providence, R.I., held graduation ceremonies for its
108th class on May 14, 2010.
Close to 300 family members and friends attended the celebration
at St. Thomas Church in Providence with the Reverend John J. Rainone
BA, MDIV, director of pastoral care at St. Joseph Health Services
of RI, presiding over the presentation of 32 diplomas and pins
to the graduating class of 2010.
David Becker, MS, RN, CNE, Director of the School,
delivered the commencement address. Senior class vice president
Anthony Amaral offered the welcoming address and Robert Desrosiers,
senior class president, delivered the farewell address..

The Bishop Russell J. McVinney Memorial Scholarship
for outstanding achievement in nursing theory and performance
was awarded to Kristine Hastings.
The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding
scholastic achievements was awarded to Susan Donoughe.
The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding
ability in Medical/Surgical Nursing was awarded to Anthony Amaral.
The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding
ability in Clinical Achievement, Psychiatric Nursing and Parent
Child Health Nursing were awarded to Kristine Hastings.
The Mother Mary Evangelist award given by the
Alumni Association of St. Joseph School of Nursing in recognition
of scholastic achievement, professional leadership and nursing
performance was awarded to Robert Desrosiers.
The
St. Joseph School of Nursing is the state's only hospital-based,
3-year diploma program. Upon receiving their diploma, graduates
are then eligible to take the national licensing exam for registered
nurses. The school was recently granted an eight-year continuing
accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
