St. Joseph School of Nursing
Graduates 105th Class

(North Providence, RI) The St. Joseph School of Nursing, located on the campus of Our Lady Fatima Hospital in North Providence, R.I., held graduation ceremonies recently for its 105th class.

Close to 200 family members and friends attended the celebration at the Church of St. Augustine in Providence with the Reverend Varghese Thekkattayil presiding over the presentation of 29 diplomas and pins to the graduating class of 2007.

Margaret Hamilton, APRN, B.C., DNSc., Director of the School, delivered the commencement address. Junior class instructor Claudette Jobin offered the welcoming address and graduates Julie Malm delivered the pledge of fidelity and Scott Petrin, class president, delivered the farewell address.

The following awards were given to the members of the
105th graduating class:

The Bishop Russel J. McVinney Memorial Scholarship for outstanding achievement in nursing theory and performance was awarded to Lisa Allen and Suzanne Esten.

The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievement in Nursing Theory was awarded to Tracy Callahan.

The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievement in Medical/Surgical Nursing was awarded to Suzanne Esten.

The Faculty Certificate of Merit for outstanding clinical achievement was awarded to Lisa Allen.

The Mother Mary Evangelist award given by the Alumni Association of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in recognition of scholastic achievement, professional leadership and nursing performance was awarded to Julie Malm.

The St. Joseph School of Nursing is the state's only hospital-based,
3-year diploma program. Upon receiving their diploma, graduates are then eligible to take the national licensing exam for registered nurses.
